Colour Bubble FAQ
Frequently asked questions
WHAT’S THE ERKO COLOUR BUBBLE?
-
Colour Bubble is like a fun run … but more colourful AND more fun! Students will walk or run around the oval with the opportunity to walk or run through bubbles and/or coloured powder.

WHAT’S IN THE COLOURED POWDER?
-
We are using colour powder made from 98% cornstarch plus safe colouring ingredients, commonly used for colour festivals and events.

IS THE COLOUR POWDER SAFE?
-
The powder is non-toxic, however students with breathing issues such as asthma are advised to be careful and should run/walk through the bubbles instead of the colour powder.
-
All powder will be thrown by a handful of parents who signed up for it prior and received relevant instructions (students will not be given powder to throw at each other). Powder will be aimed at the chest or below, not at students’ faces. Powder will not be thrown up into the air to fall or land on students.

WHAT TO WEAR AND BRING
-
Colour Run day will be a mufti (casual clothes) day: school uniforms are not required. Please come dressed in the clothes you’ll wear for the run.
-
Old clothes are definitely best. The colour powder can stain, so brush the dry powder off clothes and shoes before washing. A great option is to wear an old white t-shirt to show off the colour powder.
-
Sunglasses (or swimming goggles or glasses) are highly recommended to avoid accidentally getting colour powder or bubble mix in your eyes. You can bring your own sunglasses or buy a pair at www.erkopandc.com.au/colour-bubble to be delivered to classrooms before the run.
-
Drink bottle and hat, clearly labelled with your name. And don't forget the sunscreen!
-
Change of clothes if you’re going to Gowrie or Drama after school, so we don’t get powder inside.
CAN PARENTS AND CARERS COME ALONG?
-
Families are welcome to come along and watch the run, and then join students for recess at the oval. If you'd like to watch, meet at Erskineville Oval from 1pm (please don't come to school first).
-
Bring along your picnic rug and afternoon tea (no nuts please) if you'd like to have recess with students after the run.

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE END OF THE DAY?
-
Students will return to school in time for pickup and after-school activities at the usual time.
-
If you would like to take your child home from the oval, please ensure you sign them out with staff before leaving.

CAN PARENTS AND CARERS JOIN IN THE RUN?
-
Sadly, no. The run is for students only.
-
However, parents and carers can help with set-up and pack-up, bubbles, powder and pool noodle tunnel, as well as handing out treats on the day: please register here: https://volunteersignup.org/TQCXT
